New Jersey real estate licensees are required to complete 12 hours of continuing education every 2 years to renew their license. Of those 12 hours, at least 2 must be in an NJ-approved ethics course. The remaining 10 hours can be completed through a mix of core and elective courses approved by the NJ Real Estate Commission. All 12 hours can be completed online.
NJ real estate CE must be completed before your license expiration date. Renewal cycles are 2 years, but the specific expiration date varies by licensee. You can check your exact renewal deadline by logging into your NJ DOBI license record at newjersey.gov. Don't wait until the last minute - completing CE early gives you flexibility if technical issues come up.

If you fail to complete the required 12 CE hours before your NJ real estate license expires, your license will lapse. A lapsed license means you cannot legally practice real estate in New Jersey until you reinstate it. Reinstatement involves completing the CE requirements plus paying reinstatement fees and potentially additional penalties. It is significantly easier and cheaper to complete your CE on time.
If you received your NJ real estate license in the last 6 months of a renewal cycle, you may be exempt from CE for that cycle. However, CE requirements begin in your first full 2-year renewal period. Check with the NJ Real Estate Commission or your license record at NJ DOBI to confirm your specific CE obligations based on your license date.
NJ CE courses approved by the NJ Real Estate Commission are designed for NJ license renewal specifically. Whether they transfer to another state depends entirely on that state's CE reciprocity rules. The NJ real estate pre-license course is 75 hours total. With the live Zoom format (3 hours per night, Monday through Friday), you complete all 75 hours over 5 weeks. With the on-demand format, you study at your own pace and most students finish in 5 to 8 weeks. There is no minimum or maximum number of sessions per week for on-demand students.
If you miss a live Zoom session, recordings are available so you can catch up before the next class. We understand that life happens - work, family, and other commitments are real. That said, students who attend every live session consistently perform better on the final exam. If you have an unpredictable schedule, the on-demand course may be a better fit.

The curriculum is identical - both courses cover the same 75-hour NJ real estate pre-license content and lead to the same NJ real estate salesperson license. The difference is language and schedule. The English course runs Monday through Friday evenings from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The Spanish course runs Monday through Friday mornings from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The Spanish course is $499 all-inclusive; the English course is $275. Both include the same materials, support, and career launch session.
The NJ real estate salesperson licensing exam has 110 questions total - 80 national questions covering general real estate topics and 30 state-specific questions covering NJ License Law and NJ Real Estate Commission rules. You need to answer at least 77 questions correctly (70%) to pass. The time limit is 240 minutes.
You need a score of 70% or higher to pass the NJ real estate licensing exam. On the 110-question exam, that means correctly answering at least 77 questions. The national section and the NJ state section are scored separately - you need 70% on each section, not just 70% overall. If you pass one section but not the other, you only need to retake the section you failed.

The NJ real estate exam covers: NJ License Law and regulations, agency relationships, real estate contracts, property ownership, financing and mortgages, appraisal and valuation, fair housing and anti-discrimination, environmental issues, property management, and real estate math. The 30 NJ state-specific questions focus heavily on NJ License Law, the NJ Real Estate Commission, and NJ-specific rules that differ from federal law.
Yes. If you fail the NJ real estate licensing exam, you can retake it. You need to wait at least 24 hours before rescheduling and pay the exam fee again. There is no limit on the number of times you can take the exam. If you only fail one section (national or state), you only need to retake that section - your passing score on the other section is held for one year. No. The NJ real estate licensing exam must be taken in person at a PSI testing center. PSI has multiple testing locations across New Jersey. The exam is not available online. The NJ real estate licensing exam fee is $49 per attempt, paid directly to PSI when you register. This is separate from your school tuition.
